You Deserve A Smile

Q: I'm two months pregnant now. When will my baby move?
A: With any luck, right after he finishes college.

Q: How will I know if my vomiting is morning sickness or the flu?
A: If it's the flu, you'll get better.

Q: What is the most common pregnancy craving?
A: For men to be the ones who get pregnant.

Q: What is the most reliable method to determine a baby's sex?
A: Childbirth.

Q: The more pregnant I get, the more often strangers smile at me. Why?
A: 'Cause you're fatter than they are.

Q: My wife is five months pregnant and so moody that sometimes she's borderline irrational.
A: So what's your question?

Q: How long is the average woman in labor?
A: Whatever she says divided by two.

Q: My childbirth instructor says it's not pain that I'll feel during labor, but pressure. Is she right?
A: Yes, in the same way that a tornado might be called an air current.

Q: Is there any reason I have to be in the delivery room while my wife is in labor?
A: Not unless the word "alimony" means anything to you.

Q: Does pregnancy cause hemorrhoids?
A: Pregnancy causes anything you want to blame it for.

Q: Do I have to have a baby shower?
A: Not if you change the baby's diaper very quickly.

Q: Our baby was born last week. When will my wife begin to feel and act normal again?
A: When the kids are in college.

Q: Should I have a baby after 35?
A: No, 35 children is enough.

Q. What do you call a woman who knows where her husband is every night?
A. A widow.

Q. Why are married women heavier than single women?
A. Single women come home, see what's in the fridge and go to bed. Married women come home, see what's in bed and go to the fridge.

Q: Why is a Laundromat a really bad place to pick up women?
A: Because a woman who can't even afford a washing machine will probably never be able to support you.

Q: How do you know when a woman is about to say something smart?
A: When she starts her sentence with "A man once told me..."

Q. How do you fix a woman's watch?
A. You don't. There is a clock on the oven.

Q. Why do men break wind more than women?
A. Because women can't shut up long enough to build up the required pressure.

Q. What do you call a woman who has lost 95% of her intelligence?
A. Divorced.

Q: How many men does it take to open a beer?
A: None. It should be opened by the time she brings it.

Q: How can you tell if your wife is dead?
A: The sex is the same but the dishes pile up.

Q: Why are hurricanes normally named after women?
A: When they come they're wild and wet, but when they go they take your house and car with them.

Q. Why do women have breasts?
A. So men will talk to them.

Q. Why do women close their eyes during sex?
A. They can't stand to see a man have a good time.

Q: What's worse than a male chauvinistic pig?
A: A women who won't do what she's told.

Q. What do you call a room full of women, half with PMS, half with yeast infections?
A. A whine and cheese party

Q. Why is it called PMS?
A. Because "Mad Cow Disease" was already taken.

Inspirational Quotes by Florence Scovell Shinn

"Every great work, every big accomplishment, has been brought into manifestation through holding to the vision, and often just before the big achievement, comes apparent failure and discouragement"

"Giving opens the way for receiving"

"Intuition is a spiritual faculty and does not explain, but simply points the way"

"The game of life is a game of boomerangs. Our thoughts, deeds and words return to us sooner or later with astounding accuracy."

"You will be a failure, until you impress the subconscious with the conviction you are a success. This is done by making an affirmation which "clicks"

"Intuition is a spiritual faculty and does not explain, but simply points the way"
"If one asks for success and prepares for failure, he will get the situation he has prepared for"

"Man can only receive what he sees himself receiving"

"If one is willing to do a thing he is afraid to do, he does not have to ... face a situation fearlessly, and [if] there is no situation to face; it falls away of its own weight"

"There is a supply for every demand"

"We cannot always control our thoughts, but we can control our words, and repetition impresses the subconscious, and we are then master of the situation"

Savvy Blogger We Love- The Purse Pixie

Nanci Mackey

The Purse Pixie

“My first purse was clear plastic with rainbow hearts on it,” Nanci Mackey recalled as she laughed. “I used to carry it around my house filled with lip smackers, coloring books and a giant pencil. I loved it.” From falling in love at first with her clear plastic purse sight to her own fashion blog The Purse Pixie, which has blossomed into a full-time business, Mackey is proud to be among the fashion bloggers people trust.

“There was definitely a hole in the market regarding the information readers could get,” Mackey remembered. “ I love all purses but most people can’t afford to get the type of purses they want to get like Louis Vuitton and there are lots of purses out there from lesser known designers that are just as well made and just as nice.”

While The Purse Pixie herself manages rental properties with her husband in Asheville, North Carolina, she has connected with readers across the globe since 2009 as she offers a strong editorial content as well as an opportunity for lesser known designers to be spotlighted. She recommends Etsy, an online marketplace where up and coming designers and artists can sell their wares to the public. “We’re trying to involve Etsy in our blog more by showcasing products by unknown people who really have a talent for design,” she said.

The Purse Pixie offers hand bag give-aways, updates on the latest sales as well as a complete history of the handbag. “Part of being savvy is being prepared,” Mackey offered. “ A lot of people see their purse as their survival kit. It is important to have a purse that’s functional and can carry the things you need. The right purse helps make you look put-together. It’s something that’s overlooked sometimes but it’s an important part of your look.”

Mackey admits to switching purses often but lately she's in love with a Longchamp Le Pliage bag in the graphite color. "I love it because the bag is so light and it is easy to clean if something gets spilled," she said.

You can read all about The Purse Pixie's latest loves on her blog.

Basic Credit Repair Tips

The basic strategy to repairing your credit is as follows:
  1. Get a copy of your credit report.
  2. Analyze your report by making a list of all items you consider to be untrue or negative.
  3. For each item on your list, write down exactly why you believe the information is incorrect.
  4. Write a dispute letter to each of the credit bureaus.
  5. Send the letters to the credit bureaus. Be sure to send them registered or certified mail so that you can track each one.
  6. Keep a record of your efforts filed away so that you can retrieve it and add to it later. Record when you sent your letters and where you sent them to.
  7. Wait for the bureaus to investigate your claims.
  8. Record each of the responses after analyzing the results.
  9. Repeat.

Were the items corrected to your satisfaction?

Continue the above steps until you the dispute is settled to your satisfaction. There is no fee for a reinvestigation. If you don’t get the results you want, dispute the listing again.

You can do this. It will take patience but it will pay off.

Good luck!

Love Your Body - In Honor of National Eating Disorders Week

It's National Eating Disorders Awareness Week which takes place from February 20th through the 16th. To show my support of this effort, I encourage everyone to take a second look at their body and re evaluate what they see.

Anyone who knows me, knows that I have a somewhat conservative style. It's more bohemian, neo-soulish which means I rarely wear skin tight dresses, show off my cleavage or wear mini skirts. In fact, it took years for me to even be comfortable enough to wear an off-the-shoulder dress because I didn't want anyone staring at my body.

If I chose to be intimate with someone the lights were turned off and I still kept my shirt on. Whenever I'd see my best friend Tamara wearing a bathing suit it would bother me. She has two children and still has six pack abs. Why wasn't I that lucky?

Today I woke up and had a heart change. My body is mine. It's the only one I have. If it works just fine, why should I be ashamed of it? I am not a teenager therefore I shouldn't expect to have a teenager body. I am not a model so I don't need a flat stomach and completely tight skin. I am a mother and my body reflects that.

My body is the transportation for the essence of who I am. It does not define me, I define it.

I decided to face my fear of my body image by trying an experiment. I would wear my bikini (the first one I have had as an adult) and walk downtown to see if I could get random strangers to take pictures of me. I have never done anything like this. In fact, there are very few full body photos of me, even fully clothed, in existence because I was too uncomfortable with my body to take them.

As I got dressed I felt a bit nervous. Could I really walk around like this in public without feeling like a fool? But I did. I pressed on.

I saw a man sitting on a bench and I asked him to take pictures of me and he did. When I reviewed the photos I gulped. Is that what I look like with no clothes on? Immediately I began to feel self conscious, my thoughts raced as I went through my mental Rolodex of past lovers. Is this the body they held and caressed and united with? Was it okay to look this way?

I shook off those thoughts and I walked on. I encountered a young man and when I engaged him in conversation he said, "The media will lie to you and make you feel as though you aren't beautiful but you are."

He took pictures of me as well and I felt like a star as I stood on the sidewalk in plain view of everyone.

I wore a bikini on the street and you know what, I don't look that bad.

If you are having a difficult time embracing your body, join with me in appreciating yourself. Your body is your gift. It is the means by which the essence of who you are expresses itself and is allowed to enjoy this experience called LIFE.

You are okay just the way you are.

You are simply beautiful if you believe it.

Join me in celebrating your body. Wear your bikini and take a picture. If you send in your picture I will post it on My Savvy Sisters.

Celebrate YOU!

You are beautiful just the way you are.

Love,

Te-Erika
