Use Glycerin For Healthy Teeth

When I had a problem with a toothache, a reader wrote in to offer advice about a product that she uses to help strengthen her teeth.
Link
She wrote:

"Here's a suggestion buy a bottle of Glycerin. Either the '100% pure Vegetable Source' from a health supplement store, or a drugstore's 'USP' grade is fine. Brush your teeth with it, pure. It is a moderately sweet, intensely hygroscopic 3-carbon alcohol, somewhat syrupy in texture. You can swallow it, if you wish. In fact, a swish on the back of the tongue and swallow kills the sulfur-loving bacteria back there and instantly ends 'death breath'. The Glycerin will kill all bacteria in your mouth, and penetrate cavities, and filter down under the gumline and clean out periodontal disease bacteria, as well. When I figuered this out years ago. I had only a few loose teeth left. They immediately firmed up and I've had no problems since."

Glycerine, (COH)3H5, or C303H8, is a 3-carbon alcohol, aka glycerol. (1-carbon alcohol is methanol, 2-carbon is ethanol). It is non-volatile and intensely hygroscopic (water-loving), and can be rinsed off any surface with ordinary water.

It has recently been found to hasten cell maturation and suppress inflammation.

Here is a partial list of its uses:

  • Reduces or eliminates any skin disturbance, from psoriasis to bug bites or burns. Apply the pure Glycerin USP form. Feels oily, vanishes into the skin in about 10 minutes (signals cells to open transport channels). Cuts off pain and itching by quieting injured cells, not a "nerve blocker".
  • Doubles healing speed, cuts scarring in half.
  • Carries most materials mixed with it into the skin, especially water. Mixed with water, an excellent moisturizer. (Principal component of most commercial preparations.)
  • Pure form kills all bacteria on contact by instantly drawing the water out of them.
  • Eliminates halitosis by killing sulfurous bacteria on back of tongue if swished and gargled. (Tastes slightly sweet.)
  • De-congest nasal passages by rubbing a few drops of glycerine-water mix just inside the nostrils. Takes about 15 minutes to soften blockage and quiet agitated nasal passages, opening the airway.
  • A teaspoon or two orally, or commercial glycerine suppositories, are a mild laxative.
  • Softens and removes calluses.
  • Being researched as a cancer cell "quieter", to prevent cells from proliferating.

Two Distinct Personality Types in Business

In the world of business, there are two distinct personality types, the Drivers and the Wheels. Equally important, the two play an interdependent role in the success of the venture. Neither personality type is more important than the other; the two are interdependent and both should take care in knowing that without the other, they both lose. Recognizing your type and strengthening your confidence in your role will benefit your work and personal life.

The Drivers
The Drivers in business are the visionaries. They have the responsibility of navigating the business and making sure that those who support it are nourished and capable of pushing the vehicle forward.

The Benefits
Drivers do not have to do much of the repetitive grunt work that the Wheels have to do. The sweat they put into the business is often fanned away by the air conditioning in their office and when the company succeeds, they are the ones in the public eye receiving the praise. Their strength lies in strategizing, studying and taking the big risks.

The Drawbacks
Drivers have more responsibility than most can imagine. Their efforts and their mistakes affect a multitude of people under their employment so they have more to consider when they make a decision than most. They can rarely rest because being a Driver is more than a full time job, it is a lifestyle. A Driver can't be a master at just one area, they must be proficient in nearly every area of their business or savvy enough to delegate responsibility properly. There are no real vacations for the Driver because their mind is driven by the status of the company. Drivers are also the ones to experience the public shame of failure when their ideas do not equate to success.

The Wheels

The Wheels of the business go round and round. They have to be properly taken care of to carry the vision of the Driver and without the Wheels, the Driver can move the vision forward.

The Benefits
The main benefit of being a Wheel is the opportunity to leave work at work. After work hours, the Wheel can enjoy her family, entertain herself and focus on enjoying other areas of her life. She has one specific function within the company and if she performs that function to the best of her ability, she can rest assured that she is a part of the complete success of the business.

The Drawbacks
One of the drawbacks of being a Wheel is the fact that you are sometimes held back by leaders who only believe you can accomplish specific roles within the organization. Your leadership ability is measured, debated and often minimized by leaders who know that you function well in your role and want to keep you there to ensure that role is filled competently.

EDITORIAL: Reproductive Rights Under Attack

By Christina Fermin
Politics & Society Columnist

The attack on women’s reproductive rights in recent months is astonishing. As a nation that praises itself for being modern and free and who also has a track record for individual liberties this new trend is astonishing. For the last 30 years we continue to have this ‘debate’ on abortion, contraceptives and sex education. The attacks that the political right has launched in recent months are unjustifiable, inhumane and immoral. For a party to run on a platform against too much government, this is an issue where there is WAY TOO MUCH government involved in dictating the lives of women.

The last time I read the constitution I do not ever recall reading a passage that says: Men know better than women what women want and need and therefore are allowed to dictate how women go about in their private lives. We all have the same freedoms and in no way, were those freedoms ever suppose to be limited because of religion or personal beliefs. This has gotten out of hand, especially when there are pressing political issues such as the economy, war, climate change, education, social unrest, foreign policy, healthcare, poverty, fraud, foreclosure, corruption, an election, etc. Why is women’s reproductive rights at the center of the right wing agenda?

What makes these men, because they are mostly men, experts on women’s health issues. Why do they continue to attack Planned Parenthood? Planned Parenthood provides many benefits to low income neighborhoods, they do not solely focus on abortion or contraceptives. This issue should not even be an issue. I do not care what your personal belief is on contraceptives or abortion, because what you believe should not dictate how another will act or infringe on their right to act or choose. Today I read an article that a small bomb was planted and exploded at a Planned Parenthood in Wisconsin. REALLY? Look who the terrorists are now! Last I checked, Jesus preached about compassion and acceptance and it seems his message keeps getting hijacked by fanatics.

Although no one was injured, what if they killed someone who had gone in for STD testing or a general health physical with no relation to abortion or contraceptives? What if they would have injured someone’s child they brought in for immunization shots? To top it off, this isn’t the first one, nor will it be the last one, because statistics from the National Abortion Federation reported there were 114 violent attacks last year alone! Fact of the matter is, abortion will always happen whether it is legal or illegal and as long as it is legal we can monitor it, regulate it and take preventative measures to reduce it.

Maybe if the right wasn’t so focused on abstinence only education we could reduce the number of abortions and teenage pregnancies. Here’s another tickler, people have sex because sex feels good and it’s fun and healthy. We should concentrate on developing healthy attitudes about sex so that people can grow to become good functioning citizens that contribute to society rather than make them social deviants by making them feel sinful or alienated for taking part in an activity that everyone takes part in. The underlying message from the right is they do not know or understand how to address the problems we face as a society, so they keep going back to the same comfortable argument to stir up their base and get the votes because that is the only way they are going to keep getting elected.

Politicians do not have a plan for the economy, the wars, climate change, foreign policy, healthcare, fraud, foreclosures, etc. because if they did they would not be attacking women’s health issues. If they did they would be discussing those plans and spreading those messages rather than a message of non-acceptance, ignorance and religious fanaticism. This should be a no brainer; vote out the incumbents that collect millions from lobbyists and corporations, get involved in politics, because right now the only people getting involved are those religious fanatics that want religion and politics to be united and stop being so damn complacent, because one day everything you take for granted will be gone. Stop waiting for someone else to take care it and take care of it yourself, remember the old saying: 'if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself!' That includes politics.

The Mental Transition From Homelessness

I was sick this weekend. It felt like the flu. Combined with my monthly cycle, my body felt like it was about to give up.

I hate these times when I get sick because with no car and no close friends around, I have to figure out how to get medicine and take a taxi to the emergency room if necessary.

Now that I'm feeling better thanks to my roommates who offered me some of their medicine, I had the time to think about what's bothering me. I have this feeling of disconnection to people in general and I'm thinking that it stems from The Rebuild Your Life Project, where I became homeless on purpose.

Even though I faced my fear of homelessness by forcing myself to go through it and survive it, it doesn't mean that I was immune to the emotional turmoil it brought. I looked at it as though it was a project, but I felt the same sense of loss and frustration that anyone would feel if they had to go through it. Sure, I was better equipped to deal with it emotionally with my background in counseling and my ability to make fun of myself during the most down times but, the reality is this project changed my worldview.

I used to believe that people were generally good. I used to believe in God as a rescuer. I used to have things that I looked forward to with hopeful expectations, excited that my dreams were coming true. Now, I don't feel any of those things.

When I meet people, they are kind of hazy to me. I see us as two souls connecting for just a moment and then it will be over. I have no attachments. I have met no one that I want to be attached to. I have no desires to be attached. I have grown to be comforted by the idea that I could live my entire life alone. Being alone forever is not a fear of mine at all, not anymore.

I think about some of my friends from my past and I think what luxurious lives they lead. It's not that they are so financially secure that they are jet setting from country to country, it's just the things they talk about are so petty to me in the grand scheme of the world.

He's sooo cute!
Girl, I just bought this new dress and it is sooo hot!
I think I'm in love.

Love?

That's a luxury. I have no time for that.

I was talking to a man who professed his love for me but I didn't believe that shit. Love is an action word to me. In fact, I don't have time for that right now. You can think about love when you are comfortable and you're aren't pressed to make things happen. I am not pressed to make my dreams come true right now, I don't believe they MUST happen in order for me to be happy. I look at them like a bucket list of things I know I am capable of and I'm willing to try but it's not like I believe that I deserve them or that I am purposed to be make them happen.

I don't believe in purpose anymore. I believe in trying to create the life you want and if some of those things happen to depend on interactions with others then you have a 50/50 chance of making them happen. If they don't happen, it's okay, you can simply make up another goal or keep fighting for the same one.

I don't know. Being at the complete bottom of the social chain had its toll on me. It showed me how cruel people can be when they think are better off than you are. It taught me how those very people you look down on because they have nothing, can still smile and be happy and laugh and have adventures. It taught me that there is a lot less love in the world than I thought.

My sons are the reason I still believe in love. Yes, I have parents who tell me they love me and siblings who say they care but the reality is, their romantic partners take precedence over any love they could have for me. I understand that and I accept that. It's the way of the world.

I don't know who I'm becoming or where I'm going or even why I feel this way about the world at this moment or how it will benefit me in the future. I just. AM.

I just know that the world goes on with or without me. My life is just a blip on the radar of the Universe, a tiny blip in the grand scheme of things. I am the center of my Universe but in the larger realm of billions of people, an infinite number of stars and who know what other life forms that exist, my silly needs are inconsequential.

I'm still transitioning. Still haven't bought myself a wardrobe and don't want one. I still don't want to socialize with anyone. I have come to the point where I am annoyed by the thought of having sex and I don't even seek anyone to fill that need anymore. It's just ME- spinning around the restaurant serving pancakes, writing on my blog trying to share secrets that will help women to get through the rough times, trying to organize projects that will help to improve the quality of life for people and in between, having certain moments of bliss when my sons come to visit me and we get to bond.

That's my life right now.
