Politics & Society Columnist
Last week I mentioned the website, peoplesconference.org. After examining the website I realized it held an abundant amount of information that seeks to aid the human mind to understand the complexity of the real issues that affect all of us on this planet. The website offers tools to empower the people to take matters into their own hands without the expectation that someone else will come out and “save” them.
The website states: “Truth and justice not only need to be heard and done, but the conditions that have lead to all those crimes being committed, must be examined and addressed once and for all.” This conference is currently being put together with teams of people and volunteers coordinating everything.
Crimes that have been perpetrated by corporations, governments, news media, international organizations and the like. These entities have knowingly and repeatedly continue to do harm to persons, groups, cultures, environment, air, water, ocean and ecosystems and the list continues. Past actions taken have had little effect and success in stopping these powerful criminal enterprises, which have extended their tentacles into all aspects of governance, organization and finance. Therefore, a call was laid forth to all people’s of the world, to come together and generate a massive people’s conference to address the pressing issues that face us as a human species today.
In April of 2010 there was a World’s People’s Conference on Climate Change and the Rights of Mother Earth. I remember vaguely reading about it, but very little media attention was given to this very historic event. It was hosted in Bolivia where over 15,000 people from 130 nations attended, this conference was a product of the failed policies and climate talks of the United Nations to curb climate change. The conference sought to establish working groups so that the people would be included and a global plan of action would be established to curb climate change and the rights of Mother Earth.
Earlier this year, there was a call for a people’s conference on crimes against humanity. Originally scheduled to take place in September of this year, the conference was postponed until March of 2012. This conference, to take place in 8 locations around the world: North America, South America, Europe, North Africa, South Africa, West Asia, East Asia, Oceania and connected together via teleconference. The conference will expose the crimes of the criminals mentioned above through films, exhibitions, presentations, testimony and workshops that are to take place at each of the above locations. Afterward, people will break into working groups to address the issues lead by a facilitator, so as to have the people come up with solutions. Not only will these crimes be exposed, but evidence beyond all doubt will be presented as well. In order for this to happen effectively, people from around the world must become aware in order to do anything about it.
So what of all this? I strongly urge you to check out the website and read all of the information provided. When March 2012 comes, find out where the conference will take place nearest you and attend the conference with as many as your friends and family as possible. As we draw closer to the event, venues will be announced. This event will be the most important event in human history. Without it, we will fade into the shadows as the destruction of the planet continues. With the destruction of the planet comes the end of our existence as a species. Just as the World People’s Conference on Climate Change and the Rights of Mother Earth stated “Humanity confronts a great dilemma: to continue on the path of capitalism, depredation, and death, or to choose the path of harmony with nature and respect for life.” The choice is yours and yours alone.
Peace & Harmony,
