Dominique Strauss-Kahn Sexual Charges Dropped

Dominique Strauss-Kahn is officially a free man--New York District Attorney has dropped all sexual assault charges against the former IMF officer. Ms. Diallo a hotel maid accused Strauss-Kahn sexually assaulted her when she came into clean his room--Strauss-Kahn denied all charges against him. Even though Strauss-Kahn clung to his innocence he resigned as the International Monetary Fund Director. Ms. Diallo early this month filed a civil law suit against the former IMF Officer. Many gathered in front of the courthouse in protest against the ruling.

Rebel forces gained control of Moammar Gadhafi’s compound in Libya. Rebels were celebrating in victory of pushing Gadhafi’s and his military out of the compound. Many set parts of his compound on fire and took artillery and weapons off the compound. Gadhafi released recording in Libya’s airways after rebels took control of his compound announcing victory in his tactical plan on moving off his compound. Earthquake Shook the East

5.8 Earthquake rocks East Coastline of the U.S. many felt the tremors from Atlanta, Georgia to Boston Massachusetts. Around the early Tuesday afternoon Mineral, Virginia experienced unusual seismic activity. Many took to the streets not knowing what had just occurred only fearing the worse another attack since the anniversary of 911 is around the corner—many were shock to know an earthquake shook the east. No deaths or major injuries were reported many reported minor damages on their property. The Virginia Dominion Power Plant was shut down once the tremors were felt as precaution and safety reason. The Washington Monument shutdown and will remain closed until repairs from the damages cause by the earthquake is repaired. Governmental building were evacuated, but gave clearance for employees to return to work. Residents in Virginia continue to feel aftershock tremors ranging from 2.2 and 2.8 magnitudes--Virginia last earthquake was 100 years ago. Many of the East Coast is preparing for Hurricane Irene as the path is yet to be confirmed. Early Tuesday morning an Earthquake shook the State of Colorado.

Teen Plot to Bomb School Prevented

Jared Cano, 17, was arrested in Tampa, Florida for plotting to set off deadly explosives on the first day of school. Cano was expelled from Freedom High School last year for inappropriate behavior and planned on getting revenge by targeting to kill two assistant principals and approximately 30 of his former classmates. Cano’s plot was averted when police received an anonymous call unveiling Cano’s plan. Chief Jane Castor of the Tampa Police Department stated detectives uncovered drawings detailing areas where Cano had planned to position pipe bombs and a minute by minute attack schedule--Cano also contained supplies needed to create pipe bomb detonator. Cano has refused to speak to officers since his arrest and will be represented in court by a public defender. Officials have stated they believe that Cano would have carried out his plan alone, but are taking precautions the first day of school and placing more officers on campus.

Ecuadorian Police to Take Lie Detector Test to Cease Corruption

Police Officers in Ecuador are being forced to take lie detector test in hopes of rooting out corruption in the Ecuadorian police force. Under the new anti-corruption procedures officers will have to declare all their assets which will help illuminate corrupted officers. Police officers protested against the new procedures and cuts to their benefits. The protest turned violent and President Correa after being tear-gas and held for several hours in a hospital had to be rescued by the military. The police force is now under command of President Correa’s administration. General Alulema stated 300 officers who were suspended for alleged corruption have been reinstated by judges for judicial irregularities. In the attempt to cease corruption, officers who condemn corrupted officers will be rewarded with in incentive.

The Duchess six children a from her first marriage family do not support her decision to marry Alfonso Diez, 61, who is a civil government worker. The king of Spain called the duchess advising the Duchess against marrying Diez. The Duchess has agreed to give away her fortune to her children and grandchildren to prove to them her relationship is pure. The duchess has stated her children all are divorced and they should not care who she marries. Diez had agreed to sign legal documents preventing him from any claim to the Duchess wealth.

U.S. Navy Seals Dead in Afghanistan

30 U.S. military troops were killed when a U.S. twin-rotor Chinook helicopter crashed in Afghanistan—22 of 30 killed were U.S. Navy Seals. The Taliban have taken responsibility for shooting down U.S. helicopter with a rocket-propelled grenade. This has been the bloodiest single attack in Afghanistan for U.S. forces since start of the war. President Obama saluted the Seals and service members who loss theirs lives in the deadly attack in a private ceremony –President Obama stated “We will press on and we will succeed,” in the fight against terrorism.

President Chavez Return to Cuba for Chemotherapy

President Hugo Chavez returned to Cuba for chemotherapy since his tumor was removed in the country this past June. Some speculate his ailment will cause him to lose the election next year—President Chavez is confident and planning to win the election despite his current battle with cancer. Chavez has joked about the loss of his hair due to the treatment--the type of cancer which President Chavez is battling has yet to be announced.

London Riots Continues

685 people were arrested in connection with London riots after the death of Mark Duggan. Riots in London broke out after a peaceful protest in the police involved fatal shooting of Duggan in Tottenham erupted in violence--A Scotland Yard CO19 firearms officer fatally shot Duggan in the chest. Ballistic examination has shown Duggan did not shoot at police officers had original stated. Thousand of police officers raided the streets to cease the rioting in the streets of London. Rioters ransacked stores, torched cars, and even attack innocent residents--shopkeepers were forced to close early and residents stood guard to protect their homes and neighborhood. The rioting spread fast to other cities and has caused major damage throughout the city. Mark Duggan, 29, is survived by four children.

Check Cashing Store Robbery, Clerk Killed

Stanley Beasley, 33, robbed a check cashing store located at 2927 W. Sunrise Blvd, shooting two innocent victims before being shot by police. Clairemathe Geffrard, 25, a cashier on duty contacted 911 and another cash checking store notifying them that her store was being robbed. Police arrived on the scene quickly shooting Beasley in the store parking lot –Jose Aguilar, 36, an innocent bystander was shot from across the street of the checking cashing store. Geffrard was shot by Beasley and later was died at Broward General after doctors tried for an hour to save her life. Beasley and Aguilar were taken to Broward General Medical Center and are both listed in critical condition. Beasley have been arrested in the past for robbery.

Manuel Noriega Being Extradited to Panama

Manuel Noriega the former Panamanian military leader will be extradited from France to Panama. Noriega is currently serving a seven year sentence in French prison for money laundering charges—Noriega also served a 20 year prison sentence for drug trafficking in U.S. prison before being extradited to France last year. Noriega is wanted for human rights violations during his ruling in Panama in the 1980’s. Panamanian courts have already convicted in absentia where he was found guilty of three human rights charges each contained a twenty year sentence. Noriega is now 77 years old and has a month to file an appeal in French courts against is extradition to Panama. According to Noriega’s attorney an appeal will not be file--Noriega wants to return to Panama.

33 Dead in Ecuador after Consuming Poisoned Alcohol

33 people dead in Ecuador after consuming bootleg liquor containing methanol. 103 people were hospitalized and treated after consuming the bootleg liquor--more than 200 people are in hospitals in for alcohol poisoning throughout the country. Authorities banned the selling of alcohol for three days to check and confiscate alcohol supplies containing methanol—28 barrels were seized in Los Rios containing the illegal substance. Ecuadorean health officials have stated two glass of the contaminated substance is proven to be deadly. Authorities are warning anyone who is experiencing symptoms of nausea, abdominal cramps, blurred vision, profuse sweating and loss of consciousness to seek medical attention immediately.

Tropical Storm Emily attacks Haiti and Threatens Florida

Tropical Storm Emily stalls over Hispaniola and traveling southwest of Haiti. After a massive earthquake, cholera outbreak, and famine throughout the country Emily threatens to do more damage with massive winds and heavy rains. U.N. officials have already deployed aid to help flooding and storm ravaged areas--supplies from Panama are on standby to be flown in when needed. Haitian government officials issued an alert to residents warning of heavy rains and possible mudslides. Approximately 360 evacuation sites were identified in Port-au-Prince where people can seek shelter -- Tropical Storm Emily may weaken as it threatens the east coast of Florida where it may hit land form by Saturday.

FAA Shutdown as Congress on Vacation

President Obama is urging congress to come back after going on summer recess after passing law to raise the debt ceiling. President Obama and Ray LaHood the Secretary of Transportation is requesting congress to pass a temporary funding for the Florida Aviation Administration. Nearly 4,000 are temporarily unemployed and more than 200 airport construction projects have been halted due congress not passing funding to release money to the FAA. If the government fails to comeback to pass temporarily mandate to release funding the government will lose $30 million a day in taxes of uncollected of federal taxes--more than a billion dollar will be lost if congress wait until September to pass the bill. The FAA has been shut down for more than a week.

Amy Winehouse Dead at 27

Amy Winehouse, 27, was found dead in her London home. Winehouse who is best known for her single “Rehab” is suspected to have died from a drug overdose. Winehouse was the first British singer to win five out of six Grammy Nominations. Winehouse accomplishments were overshadowed by her long battle with drugs and alcohol. Many friends, mourners, and fans spilled out onto the internet in shock at the songstress untimely death. Family and friends held a private cremation ceremony in northern London to celebrate Winehouse life. Mitch Winehouse expressed plans to create a foundation for struggling addicts in his daughter’s honor.

91 Die in Norway Senseless Massacre

Anders Behring Breivik, 32, confessed to killing 91 people on Oslo Island in Norway. Suspect dressed as a police officer and proceeded to gun down his victims assassinating 84--seven more people died following an explosion. The 91 victims killed in Norway massacre are now being revealed--among the victims was 45 year old Monica Bosei who worked at the island’s camp and known to all as “Mother Utoya” was shot dead when she tried to alert an actual off-duty officer. The off duty officer was discovered to be Trond Berntsen, 51, the stepbrother of Norway’s Princess Mette-Marit. Some of the victims were attending a retreat at the island’s camp. Breivik’s attorney believes his client to be insane--Breivik purpose for the attack was to save Europe from Muslims by launching a revolution. As Breivik trial is most likely a year away Breivik’s attorney said it is too early to announce an insanity plea.

Four Children Shot in Northwest Miami-Dade Park

Four children shot in Northwest Miami Dade Park after two masked gunmen opened fire allegedly after adults who were playing on the basketball court. The gunmen used an AK-47 and a high-caliber handgun in the shooting, but the gunmen have not been identified. Three of the victims have been released from the hospital and the fourth is in stable condition. Police are asking the community to help bring the gunmen to justice.

Debt Ceiling Deadline Creeps Up

The House of Representative postpone vote on Speaker John Boehner’s plan to raise the debt ceiling. The proposed plan did not cut as much spending as the Speaker announced –the plan would only trim down $850 billion instead of the $1.2 trillion promised. Majority of House Republicans do not support the plan and would not vote the pass Boehner’s plan. President Obama and Congress Democrats also oppose the plan--the president has stress he will veto the plan. Speaker Boehner will revise his plan and the House is set to vote on the revised plan on Thursday. Democrat Senate leader Harry Reid also proposed a plan which will cut down $2.7 trillion, but has no entitlements or tax changes. If congress does not avert a government shutdown the U.S. credit limit will most likely increase. If a deal is not met by the August 5th deadline Americans interest rate will increase as the dollar value decreases. The world waits to see if congress will reach a compromise plan which will raise the $14.3 trillion debt limit with only six days before deadline.

Former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown was allegedly hacked by two or more of Rupert Murdoch’s many newspapers. The newspapers retrieved personal information about the Prime Minister bank account and medical records of the Prime Minister ailing infant son. The Prime Minister was among thousand who were hacked--previous allegations of unlawful activity at Murdoch tabloid “News of the World” has halted plans to takeover British Sky Broadcasting. United States will investigate if Murdoch’s Newspaper targeted any Americans.

Former First Lady Laid to Rest

Former First Lady Betty Ford, 93, was laid to rest in Southern California. Mrs. Ford was the founder of the Betty Ford clinic which has helped drug and alcohol addicts to recover. First Lady Michelle Obama, Former President George W. Bush, and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton were among those in attendance. Mrs. Ford’s family will have another ceremony in Michigan where she grew up. Mrs. Ford was also known for her advocacy for women rights.

44 Boys Die in Accident in Bangladesh

44 boys killed in Bangladesh in route from a soccer game when the truck they were in lost control. The boys ranged from 10 to 13 years of age--officials suspect the death toll to rise as the truck was carrying as many as 70 students. The deaths have affected three villages in Chittagong, Bangladesh nearly every household in the villages were affected. Divers from the Bangladesh Navy, Fire, and Civil Defense team have recovered 32 bodies in the canal.

Casey Anthony Release Date has been Altered

Casey Anthony release date has been changed from jail July 17 instead of her original release date of July 13, due to a recalculation in her sentencing. Anthony was acquitted from murder her daughter Caylee Anthony, but still had to face jail time for lying to detectives and was also ordered to pay $1000 fine for each count of false information charges and $600 in court fees. Anthony’s attorney Cheney Mason has publicly stated he fears for her safety as Anthony has received several threats on her life.

Casey Anthony Found Not Guilty

Casey Anthony’s verdict for the alleged murder of her two year old daughter was announced on Tuesday after three years since the case against Anthony started. An emotional Anthony faced the jury of seven women and five men who deliberated less than a day before announcing the verdict. The jury concluded Anthony was not guilty for the death and murder of daughter Caylee--the jury did find Anthony guilty for four misdemeanor counts of false information she provided detectives. Anthony is being held and awaiting sentencing which can be up to a year in jail. Anthony has already served three years and may just walk out a free woman. Many people disagree and are infuriated with the jury’s verdict.

Dominique Strauss Kahn U.S. Charges May Drop as Charges in France are Filed

Dominique Strauss Kahn the former IMF chief sexual assault charges are expected to drop--the judge has already removed Kahn from house arrest. The alleged victim has become less credible after she was exposed of falsifying about a previous raped accusation while seeking asylum in the U.S. Kahn however, faces new sexual assault charges filed in France by French writer Tristane Banon. Banon claims Kahn attempted to rape her back in 2003 when he invited her to his apartment for a follow up interview for a book she was writing. Kahn is denying the incident and has stated he will file slander charges if Banon presses on with the allegations.

200 migrants fleeing to Saudia Arabia drowned at sea after a fire was started on the vessel. Only three people were rescued and authorities are still searching for possible survivors. The boat was believed to come from the Red Sea State of Sudan, but the exact location where the boat started its passage is yet to be known. The Yemenis owners of the boat have all been arrested as human trafficking is at rise in Sudan.

Mexican Zetas Drug Gang Leader Arrested

Jesus Enrique Rejon Aguilar known as El Mamito has been arrested by Mexican police. Aguilar former Mexican Special Forces soldier is the believed founder of Zetas a notorious drug gang which terrorize Mexico. Aguilar has been linked to many violent crimes and even the death of a U.S, immigration officer. Aguilar was wanted by both Mexican and US officials—the U.S. offered 5 million dollars leading to Aguilar capture and conviction.

Mammograms Can Save Your Life

A breast cancer research done in Sweden concluded that women who get mammograms done regularly have a better chance of being a breast cancer survivor or even prevented from getting the disease. 130,000 women participated in the study and were divided into two groups –one group received regular doctor care and the other received routine mammograms screenings. The research concluded that 30 percent more women receiving mammograms survived from breast cancer—each year the number of survivors or women saved from getting breast cancer increased. The screening phase lasted for 7years-- the research itself was conducted for the last 29 years longest research done on women in the fight against breast cancer in the world. In the U.S. women are recommended to have regular mammograms screening starting at the age of 40.

Christine Lagarde New IMF Chief

Christine Lagarde of France was named the new IMF Chief after both Russia and US back her nomination. Lagarde have been the French Minister of Finance since June 2007 and was appointed against Agustin Carstens of Mexico. Lagarde will start her five year term starting in July--her appointment to the position came after the resignation of Dominique Strauss-Kahn who is facing alleged assault charges in the U.S. who is currently out on bond under supervised house arrest.

Blagojevich Found Guilty

Former Governor Blagojevich of Illinois was found guilty of 17 out of 20 corruption charges filed against him. The jury was made of 11 women and 1 man who deliberated for seven days before announcing the verdict. Blagojevich is now waiting his sentencing which he can face up to 300 years in federal prison. Blagojevich is disappointed in the jury’s verdict and still pleas his innocence.

The Notorious Drug Lord “The Monkey” Captured

Jose de Jesus Mendez Vargas known as “The Monkey”, the leader of one notorious drug cartel “La Familia” was arrested in Mexico. President Felipe Calderon of Mexico was quoted in stating this was a great blow to organized crime. La Familia has caused an immense amount of violence throughout the country including kidnapping and murder of rival gangs.

Wal-Mart Wins

Supreme Court rules in favor of Wal-Mart in its gender discrimination class action law suit which was filed against the multibillion conglomerates. In 2001 six women filed a law suit against the corporation claiming inequitable wages—Wal-Mart has denied such claims. The Supreme Court has ruled there is insufficient evidence to support the plaintiffs claim and ruled the case could not go any further. The Plaintiffs are not giving up in their discrimination case.

NATO Drone Helicopter Crash in Libya

NATO Drone Helicopter crashed in Libya--Libya television stations aired the wreckage of an Apache Drone Helicopter. Wing Commander Bracken reported no attack helicopters were lost and an investigation had been launched. This is the first aircraft since NATO mission against Libya started back in March.

Greece Take One for the Team, Parliament Pass for Bail

Greek Prime Minister Papandreou’s cabinet wins confidence vote in Parliament. Greek Parliament voted to pass the bailout which will raise taxes, cut pensions, and sell Greek assets. As expected the bailout is unpopular among its citizen. European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso declared Greece had no alternative--a default would have caused grave damage to the euro and even the world economy. The bailout is to reduce and help Greece’s budget deficit.
